Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real

I'm linking up with Leila at Like Mother, Like Daughter today for some {pretty, happy, funny, real}where she strives to capture "the context of contentment in everyday life".

{Pretty}

Despite the dropping temperatures, there are still plenty of pretty blooms around the new flower beds.

{Happy}

The clouds parted just long enough for us to witness the eclipse on Sunday night.

{Funny}

I take the daughter of a friend home after school each day. As the girl got out of the van yesterday, Cuckoo very seriously asked, "Do you have a cat food tree?"

We all were quite confused until I saw the impetus for the asking of the question:

The driveway:

The floor after Cuckoo spills the cat food (It happens frequently.):

{Real}

And the children wonder why my face is all pinched and I talk through my teeth with my jaw clamped shut...

Two different bathrooms...

In the span of 5 minutes...

Not to mention the hand AND bath towels on the floor.

So that one has some stretching to do to align with the "capturing contentment" part of this link up. I'm content with the fact that at least they are using toilet paper. :)

Now I shall go back to looking at my pretty flowers.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Very pretty flowers, I missed the eclipse as I didn't know about it (but I wouldn't have bothered watching it anyway, they don't really interest me) and I just love Cuckoo's idea of a cat food tree :)

  2. "Cat food tree"--I love it! And, I am impressed that at least there were rolls of toilet paper available. What irks me is when the roll gets used up and rather than replace it, the kids just use another bathroom! (Not so much a problem now that the kids are grown and mostly gone.)

    1. Ha! That IS annoying! There are two reasons I don't have that problem. One, I usually have plenty of extra rolls in each bathroom cabinet. More importantly, two...There are two bathrooms the kids can use besides the master. Only one of them has a lock, so only the little kids use the non-lockable one. The big kids will only use the one with a lock, so no switching of bathrooms. :)

  5. pretty flowers... the eclipse was very nice, we were also concerned that we wouldn't see it because of clouds... we had a wonderful clear view from our driveway eating apple pie... I got a chair and sat outside watching it...

    1. Wow! Why didn't I think to have apple pie while we watched?? It's not like we don't have enough apples!

    2. :) it's because we had the pie crusts in the freezer - half the work done. LOL!

  6. Love the toilet paper example. And the cat food tree! Where can I get one of those? And how do you still have so many beautiful flowers? Two blogs in three days? We are so lucky!

    1. It is a miracle we have flowers still blooming. Besides just the weather, the dogs are notorious for digging everything up. If I were to zoom out of the photos above, you'd see the mess they have made of the flower beds!

      Ha! I don't know about lucky... :)

    The cat food tree question is precious!
