For Those of You Who Have Had Nothing But Boring, Blue Skies...

According to our weatherman, before the three storms yesterday and last night, Indianapolis had already received 15.5 inches of rain since June 1.

taken from our front porch as the first of Tuesday night's storms approached

He also stated that 15.5 inches of rain translates to 160 inches of snow, so be glad it isn't winter.

Taken from my van Tuesday afternoon as I tried to will Buttercup to come out of practice early so we could get ahead of the behemoth of a storm. She made it to the van, but the rain and wind came within a minute.

6 seconds of our drive home:

Way to stay positive, no?

It is way harder than I thought it would be to get a photo of lightning through my bedroom window using my phone. There were approximately 10,000 strikes in less than an hour, but my phone was having trouble with the no light to LIGHT transition.

Our normal rainfall for June and July combined is 8.6 inches.

My street this morning.
The forecast for the next 2 days is 80 degrees and nothing but sun.

I'll see you on Friday.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Yikes! Is all that just rainwater, or is there a creek or river nearby that has overflowed its banks?

    1. Rainwater. There isn't a creek within a few miles of here.

  2. I'm gonna quit complaining about the rain here.

    1. Ha! I'm trying not to complain, either. Just wish we could send some to California.

  3. Oh precious rain. We'll take what you don't want. It's ever so dry here and this drought shows no signs of letting up.

Have a fabulous next two days of blue sky. ☺

    1. I know. I wish I could send it to you. We had a drought a few summers ago. It was scary! I hope you all get some relief soon.

      Thank you!

  4. On the plus side, the reflection on your flooded street is awesome!

  5. Hey! Nice mountains in the distance (in the last photo).

    1. Um, I'm in Indiana. There are no mountains. Those are the last of the storm clouds moving off to the east. :)

  6. Whew! That's a LOT of rain!

  7. Gee, I was whining because it was raining today. A flooded payment is a big pain in the ----ss. Ours has flooded twice and it was awful. Glad the sun is supposed to be out the next two days.

    1. It is a big pain. Our basement isn't even finished, but it is still a big fat pain. The sump pump doesn't come on automatically (long story (No, we can't get one that does.)), and if we don't catch it, our furnace and water heater will be killed. Big. BIG pain.

      Me, too!

  8. We had so many over 100 degree days here in Idaho, that rain would've been SOOO nice! Then when it actually did rain everybody had hay on the ground. There was just no winning with our weather. Now we've got a bit of a cooling trend happening, low 80's and it feels like fall. :) So happy you made it home safely thru that torrential downpour!

    1. I did not know that Idaho got that hot! That sounds miserable. I hope you can get out and enjoy the cooler weather!
Me, too! And I'm glad I was the one driving and not Phoenix!

  9. Yup. Here in Columbus too... ugh. Summer has surely been different this year because of all this rain! It's like the heavens open up to give the sun a fighting chance and it's a miracle!! Today was glorious! One day. I wanted to stay outside as long as possible... it feels like winter some days... but thank GOD it's not snow.

  10. YOUZA!!! That almost looks like the kind of rain we get here! Almost. Only we don't usually get it in the summer. We are having an unusually ummmm...hot (for us) June. Sorry. So instead we escaped for 4 nights to where it's even hotter...the desert because at least there, there is air conditioning and low humidity. :D
