10 Photos You Wouldn't Have Seen Otherwise

Lisa, from The Golden Spoons, hosts a Tuesday Ten linkup, and this week they are celebrating National Photo Month. The theme for today's list is The Last 10 Photos from Your Phone. And we are to give explanations when appropriate.

I will not give you the last 10 photos, because they would all be very similar. I never take just one. I must take at least 5 of each scene. Instead, I will include one photo from each of the last 10 things I photographed.

********** ONE **************

I am thrilled to bits that my two oldest are gainfully, albeit sporadically, employed. Monday night, they were the line refs for the same game. That's Buttercup over there under the arrow.

********** TWO ***********

Bryan and I were able to go to an event at the Speedway on Saturday night. The only pictures I took with my camera were of the view from the 7th floor of the pagoda. Can you see the city there in the middle? The full moon and city were much prettier than this photo.

************* THREE **********

On Friday night, I was at one of Buttercup's soccer games. Right next to the parking lot, a gigantic helicopter was getting ready to take off. I thought the little boys would like to see a picture of one. The sun was shining directly at me, so I couldn't see the screen on my phone. I was completely guessing as to what I was focusing on. It wasn't until just now, when I downloaded these photos to my computer, that I realized how pretty the sky was at that moment. Can you even see the blasted helicopter?

*********** FOUR ***********

Apparently, I've got a thing for sky shots. I was taking a walk around the fields during Turken's baseball practice, and noticed the moon in the beautiful sky. It was even better when I saw it through the blooms of the tree.

Once again, the objects in photos are prettier in real life.

************* FIVE **********

When out in the yard last week, we were shocked to find asparagus growing in the garden. We planted it three or four years ago, but asparagus requires a different way of growing, and we apparently aren't good with picky plants. We basically haven't touched it in those three or four years. I guess this just proves that God's creations have a really strong instinct to live and are terribly adaptable. Bryan broke it off and brought the asparagus in. Every time I opened the fridge, I was smacked in the face by an asparagus spear. (It was delicious, by the way. And there is now more in the same spot, smacking me once again.)

***************** SIX ***********

I was thinking about writing a post about food that is good to take for kids who have little time between school and practice. It's a chicken Caesar wrap. I chose not to write it, because, well, I just told you all you needed to know in two sentences.

*************  SEVEN **************

Our school has a tradition that after the first show night, the cast of the middle school musical all go to Steak-n-Shake. It makes for a late night, made even later by the child who eats very, very slowly.

*************  EIGHT ***********

The elementary/middle school kids got Friday off of school. It was a snow make-up day that we never needed to use. (You folks in the south have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?) We spent some time at the nearby church, playing basketball and kickball.

************** NINE **************

Out of the blue, Cuckoo asked, "What is making that shadow on the wall?" (He was not talking about the shadow of me taking a photo of the shadow.) Very good question! We went on a hunt. A long hunt. Almost 10 minutes later, one of the kids figured it out.

************** TEN ************

That would be a picture Turken made in art class months and months ago. It was ripped about 2 months ago. I don't know why it's still there. I guess it just became one of those things we're so used to seeing that we don't even register its existence anymore. Well, it was such a sunny day, this paper made a shadow about 40 yards away; down a hall, through the dining room, through the kitchen and onto the back wall of the kitchen.

And there you have it. I have over 2,000 photos on my camera. Most of it is stuff like this. Post ideas and bad photos of pretty things.

How about you? What are the last pictures you took with your phone?

Have a lovely day!

  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one who plans out a post and takes pictures, only to realize that the post is two sentences long! I"m also not the only one who has ripped artwork still on display! #Solidarity!

  2. My phone? What phone. I've not had a cell phone in years and I don't want one. I am amazed at the people that are staring at their phone while dining, driving, being with someone they are ignoring. Okay, off my soapbox.

Great shots. I love all the folks that order dinner and then photograph it so we can all see what they had for lunch or dinner. Those pretty much make me chuckle.

Have a lovely day too. ☺

    1. I hear you. It has gotten out of hand.

Thanks! Hahaha! I refuse to take pictures of my meals when I eat out. Or in. Unless I'm planning on a post with a recipe or something. ;)

  3. I think i'm going to copy your idea. I definitely don't just take one of anything. I did just take "one" of the full moon on Saturday also. It's not all that. It was so much prettier when I was driving and couldn't take a picture. Love the blue sky photo - absolutely beautiful! And this "folk" from the south does know what you're talking about. The took away two teacher workdays and then they lost the Monday after Easter and there hasn't been any half days since last year. What I bet you have no idea about is that we didn't get more than an inch of snow and some of the delays where for invisible ice aka black ice ;-)

    1. Glad you decided to join in the link up!

Phone cameras just can't do night scenes justice.

Hahaha!! I DO know what you are talking about! We lived in Alabama for 6 months (through the winter). I've never seen such pandemonium over a dusting of snow.

  4. Hey look what happens when you actually post your blog? I actually get to read it! :) Thanks for taking such good care of me.

BTW I love the post...you and I both have a thing for sky shots. :)

Thanks! We do. Guess that's why we're friends.

  5. The sky ones are gorgeous. That's the kind of weather we've been having too. And, no, I could not find the helicopter. Love the story about searching for the shadow's source.

    1. Why thank you! The helicopter was in some serious shadow.

Glad you liked it. I was just happy to know that 1. a child of mine noticed such a shadow, and 2. that so many of my kids were interested enough to want to track it down. We are such nerds, and it makes me happy.

  6. The sky pics are gorgeous!! I have over 2000 photos on my phone too - and I have been saying 'I really need to take them off' for a while now = I'm putting it on my to-do list today! Thanks for sharing! (Linking up with #TuesdayTen)

    1. Thank you! Did you get your photos pared down? Sad thing is, I have gone through and deleted hundreds of them. (When my phone refuses to take any more because I'm out of room.) :/

  7. Over 2000! Wow!! The last pictures on my phone are mostly of kids at my church where I work in children's ministry so I couldn't share them on my blog! :-) I love the sky pics - the nighttime one of the moon is really cool!

    1. I know. It's bad. BUT, in my defense, my phone is about 4 years old.

Yeah, probably a bad move to share photos of other people's kids. :)

      Thank you!

  8. hey nice photo of the dog-shaped cloud!! (for whatever reason, a rather high percentage of your photos are of multi-imaginal subjects. like that one last summer where there was a cat sitting in the soccer goal.)
todays photos: dog-shaped cloud (terrier) and lobsters (I'll leave the fun of finding the lobsters to any Readers of like mind).

    1. I don't take pictures of these odd things, you just have the imagination to find such things.
C'mon. Tell me where the lobster is!

    2. Photo #6 granted on closer examination I saw that there was the segment sections found in lobster tails… but the color is right

  9. Too funny about the shadow on the wall!
Some of these are really pretty! I'm like you, I take six or seven pictures of something and keep the best ones :) It's just another example of modern technology allowing me to be excessive instead of intentional ;)

    1. I know! I was completely baffled by it.
Thank you! See, I take those extra photos intentionally. I want to give myself the best chance of getting the focus, composition, and lighting right. I can't judge by the little phone screen when I take it. I do eventually delete the bad ones. Eventually. :)

  10. Love the sky shots, the blue is awesome. The moon is just beautiful as well... The asparagus is just to funny, it is a staple in this house, the door to the fridge always has that hanging out... :) What is with Steak and Shake, ours is packed at 2 pm or 2 am..... :)

I wish asparagus was a staple here. I love it, but my kids are not the biggest of fans.

It's packed because the service is so slow. Everyone is waiting on his milk shake. :)

  11. I love looking at photos. And the fun explanations that go with them.

  12. I haven't grown asparagus before, but from what I understand, you are supposed to give it 3-4 years to get established before starting to harvest it. So, I guess you do know how to grow picky plants!

My last 10 photos are of my oldest granddaughter. We had a date yesterday at the zoo. :-)

    1. Hahaha! That is true. But I'm pretty sure good gardeners at least weed where they planted that asparagus. :)

Ah, I bet you had a great day with lots of wonderful photos to remember it.

  14. As I said when I commented on Ivy's and Val's blog posts for the same hop, y'all have much better pictures on your cameras than I do! Love these! Love this hop idea.

  15. Love them! I just had to delete about 1,000 photos from my phone. It wasn't even letting me update apps any longer and I'd go to take a picture and it'd say "nope! memory full!"
I love the art one that no longer registers. We have so much of that here - I SEE it for a minute and think "oh. yeah, take that down." and then forget for months. Maybe, years.
