Someone Asked Me for Farming Advice. No One Is More Surprised Than Me.

I have a new friend named Ally. Ally and her husband have accidentally become country folk by buying a 20 acre hobby farm. Sound familiar? Yeah, we have some things in common.

Ally is scouring the internet, looking for tips from people who have been there, done that.

As you readers know, I most certainly have been there, done it wrong, and redid it. Ally had some questions for me, and then she went and posted them on her blog, The Speckled Goat.

    1. Oooh, you know how to make italics in comments?? So advanced and way beyond my capabilities. :)

Thank you! It is smack you in your face true. Just today I was listening to an interview of a woman who used to do a lot of writing for Cosmo magazine before giving it up and becoming Catholic. The interviewer asked her at what point she began to realize she was on the wrong path. She said it was when they moved out to the country. She is a big proponent of people getting out of the busy and taking time in the quiet of the country. God is much easier to hear out here. I'd have to agree. :)

  4. It was a great interview and was good to read. One problem though - I clicked on the link for your chicken story but it comes up as the page of your blog doesn't exist?

    1. Ack! That was my fault! Sorry- here's the right link, Tigermouse- http://a-fly-on-our-chicken-coop-wall.blogspot.com/2014/01/i-was-drugged-something-died-as-usual.html

And I went and edited the post so the link should work now. Sorry about that- and thanks for letting me know!

    2. Thanks Ally.

And now having gone to the post I realise I did actually read it and commented at the time, but it was good to read it again - and it made me laugh again :)

  5. COOL! I love that you're still making a difference, still giving, even when you don't think you're qualified. I think you're qualifieder than you think you are.

  6. "I grew up on a dead-end street in a new neighborhood in a small city."

damn! the wannabe writer in me totally sat up at this opening line. very cool

wasn't certain if my comment on the blog would transpire to this blog*
she did quite a good job and you did as excellently (in the interview) as we would expect.

*that by the way, would be be considered a light rogerian expression (the misuse of transpire)
