I Don't Think I've Ever Been This Brief! TToT#114

Jumping in for a really quick list of things for which I'm thankful this week:

1. My littlest boy will be six years old on Sunday. He'll be a six year old who acts like a 14 year old in a 3 year old's body. He keeps life interesting, that is for sure.

2. I remembered to plan ahead and ask him what he wanted to take in to school for his birthday treat, and then follow through by having the requested snickerdoodles ready to go on Friday morning.

3. His birthday present is purchased.

(FYI, #2 and #3 is not a given. I am HORRIBLE at planning for kids' birthdays and buying presents for them. Don't ask my kids how many times they got their gifts late, and don't ask Turken what he took to school for a treat last year.)

4. I got to spend the evening with my book club ladies tonight.

5. Phoneix can drive.

6. The weather for today's soccer games was perfection.

7. I found a handyman to get all sorts of odd jobs done around the house.

8. I have friends who completely understand the feelings I'm working through these days because they are feeling the same things.

9. My parents are healthy and active.

10. Buttercup's ability to (1) recognize wrong behavior and (2) stand up for people who are being mistreated and/or gossiped about.

I told you it was going to be quick!

Tell me. What are you thankful for this week?

Have a lovely day!

    1. Ha! No, he told me a week before the end of school that he never actually took a treat in for his birthday (in March). In my defense, his birthday fell smack in the middle of spring break and we had a blowout party for him the day before we left for our trip.

Are you that excited about wishing him a birthday or is your computer acting out again?

    1. Well, let's see...chocolate pancakes in the shapes of a six and a snowman (his request) for breakfast...his oldest two siblings took him out for a huge ice cream sundae and a trip to the store to pick out a gift...and we haven't even had cake, ice cream, and gifts from us yet. I'm thinking he is having a great day. :)
I'll pass on your birthday wishes!

I'm thankful for a wonderful weekend with our yacht club. Had a successful meeting and a great BBQ. Enjoyed many of our friends and that's always the very best.

    1. Thank you, Sandee, for always stopping by and encouraging me.

I will pass the song along to him. :)

I'm glad your weekend went as well as you planned. It sounds like so much fun. It reminds me of when Bryan and I lived in Bermuda and would spend a day on the boat with our friends. Such fun!

    5. ISN'T IT WUNNERFUL?!
    6. How have we gotten so lucky lately with cooler weather in the middle of August?
    7. I have one that I love. One day, when I'm rich, I've got a list a mile long for him!
    9. That's another wunnerful thing. It's not easy watching mine slip.
    10. Still a peach, that girl!

      6. It has been nice, but I've noticed some trees turning color already and it is making me nervous.
      9. Oh, it is difficult to watch a loved one age, especially when it isn't "gracefully".
      10. Usually. We'll be the best of friends when we don't live in the same house. :)

It is fun! We didn't even discuss our next book. Oops! Ha! The last book we read was The Rosie Project, which we all enjoyed.
It's supposed to be a beautiful week, and I'm going to take advantage as much as possible. Hope it's the same for you!

  11. Happy birthday!!! I think that was a touchy birthday for me. Adding that thumb to the "whole hand". Mine turned a whole hand and a thumb and an index finger a.k.a 7 years old on the 14th :)
I hope that he enjoyed them snickerdoodles.
    And phoenix can drive?!!! Wha?!!

    1. Ha! I said the same thing to him when he got up. He needs more than one hand to show his age now! I'm still not wanting to admit it. I'm getting a bit panicky about these kids of mine getting older.
He did, as did his class. They didn't even leave a crumb for me!
He can, and it is marvelous. Life-changing, really.

  14. 6 years old!!! When did THAT happen?!?!? Happy early BD to Cuckoo!!

I'm surprised Phoenix driving is not on your list EVERY week. ;)

I need to hire a handy man too. Unfortunately G considers himself a handy man and does not agree with me.
