August Photo Challenge - Colorful

P.J. at a 'lil hoohaa has a photo challenge every month, and every month I don't do it.

UNTIL NOW!!!

This month he chose "Colorful" for our theme.  Unfortunately, I used my phone for every one of them.  Fortunately, I have a phone which can take photos.

1.  August came in with some mild temperatures and clear skies.  Day after day we enjoyed the most beautiful blue.  The pop of red from Cuckoo's shirt is a little bonus of colorful.

2.  Four years ago we planted sunflowers at the edge of our garden.  Every single year new ones grow from the fallen seeds of the previous year.  I love looking out my kitchen window to see all of those yellow blooms stretching for the sky.

3.  This bright pink ball has been the toy of choice lately.  They were actually giggling, even as they fell to the ground.  Over and over and over.

4.  Despite the storms and our lack of care this summer, the pepper plants have been prolific.  The kids prefer the taste of the green ones, so we pick them and freeze them before they change to red.

5.  One of the best places to find color is the midway at the state fair.  Especially on another perfect weather day.

What are some of the most colorful things you saw during the month of August?

If you have a blog, there's still time for you to link up!

Have a lovely day!

    1. Thank you! I don't care what color the peppers are as long as they are cooked.

  2. So glad you joined in this month! And with a very fun set of photographs, too. I have to say that I prefer yellow or orange peppers, but that big harvest of green ones looks pretty good to me. I've never had success growing peppers in our veggie garden.

Most fave photographs are those where your little guys are having a lot of fun. Oh for the carefree days of childhood...

    1. Me, too! Surprisingly, peppers have been some of the best successes we've had in the garden. We've had more than enough for our family.

They were having such a good time that day playing with the ball. The giggles were contagious.

  3. Love the pictures! We had wild sunflowers growing on the empty lot across the street from our house; unfortunately, they cleared the lot just a couple of weeks ago. Wonder what they're going to build..

Bummer that the flower was taken down. Aren't they wonderful to see out the window?

  7. Thank you for confirming that red peppers were indeed green peppers which then leads me to the question...are limes actually unripe lemons?!?!? ;)

    1. Yes, ma'am, they are. Who didn't believe you?!?!? As for the limes, I don't think so. Just like Granny Smith aren't unripe Red Delicious. ;)

  15. It is pretty amazing with phones now, isn't it? The midways are awesome, especially at night. I love setting up my tripod with my real camera and taking some long exposure shots. But you captured some great color. Love the water on the peppers, too.

Hope you join up with us more often!

    1. These phone cameras have gotten quite good. It makes me happy.

We're never at the fair once it gets dark. The kids always have school the next day, and the fair is almost an hour away from home. I bet it's lovely, though.

      I'm planning on it!
