We took a tour while on vacation just this past July, and I almost swooned when we walked into the room, and then the guide told us that they were the real deal from the movie. Looks like I'll need to head to New Orleans one of these days!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17209807996463889703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1329563580023354380.post-64110593144515008342012-09-25T11:31:01.798-04:002012-09-25T11:31:01.798-04:00Good luck with the renovations. I elbowed the buddy I was with an pointed at the curtains chuckling that they reminded me of the Carol Burnett sketch where she pulls a Scarlet O'Hara and uses the curtains as a dress (your reference at the beginning of your post). Of course the next thing out of the tour guide's mouth was that those curtains were the inspiration for the scene in Gone with the Wind. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1329563580023354380.post-59386675799115031362012-09-16T18:08:37.184-04:002012-09-16T18:08:37.184-04:00Our oven is gas, so it won't be going anywhere...Our oven is gas, so it won't be going anywhere but out of the house. Your story is the reason we aren't tackling this on our own. No way could I live in that mess for two years! That, and Hubby isn't exactly handy. I dread the kitchen remodel we face in this house since we know there are holes under the cabinets leading to a mouse hotel.
I feel your pain I had to use the bathtub to wash dishes for a few weeks, we did drag the oven to the diningroom with it plugged into the kitchen wall still so I could cook. went a year with the counter top not attached and missing in spaces. BUT when it was done I loved it. I had glass corner cupboard and a glass faced hutch that were so wonderful that I would pet them on occasion.
just keep chanting it will be worth it it will be worth it. It will soon be a memory.
can't wait to see the pictures. {oh our old one had the milk drop still in the wall leading to the outdoors.}
my advice? go with what you love! go classic don't go trendy, remember the almond color cabinets of the late 80's yeah the landfills are loaded with them!
jenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1329563580023354380.post-69883968072957170932012-09-15T19:47:52.809-04:002012-09-15T19:47:52.809-04:00Fantastic. When my landlady asked if I'd like my walls painted, I told her I'd rather put up with the peeling than have to go through the rigmarole, so I'm probably not the best person to give advice on how to put up with the inconvenience, but I'll happily offer you a wine.

*hands you a glass of white*Kellie @ Delightfully Ludicroushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18226603919012169939noreply@blogger.com
