Good thing, 'cause I'm running out the door and I need some quick thankfuls!
1. Bryan and I were able to go out to dinner with friends from our law school days. We haven't seen them in a couple of years, but you'd never know it if you were someone else in the restaurant. We laughed the entire time, which was quite a while. We closed the place.
2. The basketball season is officially over for my boys. While I do enjoy watching them play, I'm enjoying this one week break between basketball ending and soccer practices starting.
3. On Monday I was able to work in Cuckoo's kindergarten room for the first time for their 100th Day activities. His teacher gave me the painting station, seeing as how I was her daughter's preschool teacher and she knew I had experience. It was nice to finally put names to the faces I hear about.
4. On Tuesday I volunteered at St. Elizabeth's as usual, but now I have someone to work with me. She is a new volunteer who recently moved here from Virginia and has a teenage son. We got along very well.
5. After volunteering, Bryan and I had lunch together. It is Devour Downtown this month in Indy, so we tried a new-to-us restaurant called Georgia Reese's. It was some goooood southern comfort food. We certainly devoured our alligator gumbo, shrimp and grits, salad, meatloaf with sides, bread pudding, and peach cobbler. The best peach cobbler.
No really. The Best.
6. Our dog line is finally fixed. It broke a while ago, but nothing could really be done with the yard covered in snow and ice. We had a break in weather, so the guy came out. Unfortunately, it wasn't before the dogs (Roy in particular) managed to get a hold of a few of the chickens. Thankfully, we still have the 15 smartest ones left.
7. I still love my washer and dryer. In completely unrelated instances, two members of my family said something about how my life seems to revolve around laundry. I can't say it isn't true. BUT, at least I can get all of that laundry washed and dried in much less time than I used to. It's the folding that kills me. Every time.
8. I took the time to write TWO posts (besides thankful ones) this week. Remarkable, seeing as how I was out the door early every morning this week.
9. I got to sub in the kids' old preschool (where I used to teach) on Thursday. It's always fun to be in a room with 17 3/4 year olds!
10. I'm off to our last all-weekend volleyball tournament. I'm thankful that Bryan has something he has to stay in town for most weekends, so I get to go to all these tournaments. Watching volleyball is so much fun!

ReplyDeleteWow! You are so sweet to say such nice things. Thank you for your encouragement. I am enjoying this time as much as humanly possible. The time is getting closer and closer that they will start moving away, so I am taking full advantage of the short amount of time i have left.
DeleteSounds like a fun, full week. I taught preschool for a few years, and later kindergarten which is my favorite age. Enjoy your weekend! I love CO...my dad grew up on a farm in Broomfield (which was just farmland back then!) and I have lots of happy memories of visiting my grandparents there.

DeleteKindergarten is so much fun. I've done long-term subbing as well as short term work in kindergarten rooms. I'm always exhausted at the end of a day, but I've always had fun.

Those little ones are so full of innocent truth; I'm glad you got to spend time with them this week. Hope the snow continues to melt and milder days are ahead. DeleteThis was the first 100 day celebration I've ever worked! Can you believe it? I've only worked in the kids' classrooms a handful of times over the years, since I have always had at least one little sibling with me. No siblings allowed when volunteering in school. It was lots of fun. I'm glad I'm finally able to work in the rooms whenever they need me now.
The weather this weekend has been awesome! Mild, mild, mild.
have fun this weekend - wonderful tens.... we have a few more weeks for CYO basketball, Amelia is playing this season - her team is in first place winning all the games, so far....its divine intervention, these girls have yet to practice together at any given week...first the gym was being fixed then snow days cancelled practice yet they all get on the court and play...that was some lunch you had with hubby, i mean its sounds good but wow alot of food too... but now i want peach cobbler ---:)

DeleteIt was a lot of food. The kids were fed leftovers that night while Bryan and I continued to digest our lunch. :) I highly recommend the peach cobbler.

Ah, sports is very nearly an all-year thing. Glad you got even the shortest of short breaks to breathe and write and enjoy some good food, comfort food together.

I miss the days of seasons. When I was in high school, I lettered in 3 sports each year. We could, because each sport was limited to just a few months. Not anymore!

ReplyDeleteIt is. Yes, we do! I've been to Lafayette many, many times. Our kids have played soccer games there, but mostly because Bryan went to Purdue for undergrad. :)

I'm so out of the loop. Did you get a new washer/dryer? I did. Last year around the Black Friday time. They've changed my life for the better, but yeah, the folding still sucks. Speaking of, I need to go switch the laundry.
ReplyDeleteWe got a new one about a year ago. I still love it. Lately, I'll simply separate the older kids' clothes into unfolded piles, then tell them to fold their own and put them away. Usually when I've been super busy and irritated that they've all let the clothes sit on the laundry couch for three days.

Deletebusy week! But you bring out a good point about having time and writing posts. When you have a post to write, the time is found, it's when I sit in front of a blank screen that makes it seem like I'm not writing enough.*

It makes complete sense! It is a matter of priorities. If you really want to write, and really have something to say, you'll find a way, I guess.
DeleteCan I say that i am thankful that Christopher decided he didn’t want to play soccer. I had the registration money out and form completed with a copy of his birth certificate. He said, “Is it too late to change my mind?” And I said, “No!” with a little too much enthusiasm. We’ve got two more weeks of basketball and then that might be it until football unless he decides to play baseball.

DeleteNo, there really isn't. I like watching it. Shoot, I like watching any game my kids play in. It's the practices and the driving that wear me down.
